Are Bald Men at Risk for Heart Disease?

Male pattern baldness might be an indication that more serious health issues are lurking, report researchers from the University of Tokyo. In a study that assessed the hair and hearts of nearly 37,000 men, researchers found that men who experience hair loss are up to 50% or more likely to also suffer with a cardiovascular condition. For individuals who experience hair loss at both the frontal hairline and crown of the head, the chance of developing a cardiovascular condition might be as high as 60% or more. In the wake of these findings, health professionals urge men who notice hair loss to consider consulting a physician to examine their cardiovascular health.
